SPAMAST Launches ASEAN CONNECT Digital Exhibit to Showcase Regional Identity and Innovation

The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology, through its Office of Internationalization and External Linkages, formally launched ASEAN CONNECT: The Digital Exhibit Celebrating ASEAN Identities, Heritage, and Creative Innovation on April 22, 2026, at the Third Floor Conference Room. Spearheaded by Dr. Arneda Jean S. Gonzales, the initiative gathered academic leaders, faculty, and students to highlight the diversity and shared heritage of Southeast Asia through digital platforms. The exhibit positions SPAMAST as an active participant in regional engagement by promoting creative outputs that reflect both tradition and innovation.

In her rationale, Dr. Gonzales underscored the role of digital initiatives in strengthening intercultural understanding and academic collaboration across ASEAN member states. Messages of support from university officials, including Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Marlyn B. Llameg, Vice President for Administration and Finance Dr. Janet Octura, and Vice President for Research, Innovation, Development and Extension Dr. Edelyn S. Albiso, emphasized the importance of embedding internationalization in institutional programs. The activity featured the presentation and evaluation of digital entries, followed by the formal launch of an online gallery designed to expand access and engagement beyond the campus.

More than a platform for creative expression, the ASEAN CONNECT exhibit reflects SPAMAST’s commitment to producing globally competent and culturally grounded individuals. By fostering dialogue, innovation, and collaboration, the initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 on Quality Education, Goal 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Goal 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. It reinforces the institution’s vision of education as a catalyst for inclusive development and meaningful regional cooperation.
