The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) secured national recognition as an Exemplary Performing School in the February 2026 Licensure Examination for Criminologists, affirming its strong academic standing and consistent performance in professional board outcomes. The distinction was conferred during the Oath-Taking of New Criminologists and Induction of New Members organized by the Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines (PCAP) on May 1, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center Manila, MOA Complex in Pasay City. Representing the institution were SPAMAST President, Dr. Lynette A. Bomtia, and Institute of Human Service Dean, Dr. Jonel Mark Sarno, who joined the national gathering of academic leaders and newly licensed professionals.

The ceremony brought together educators and practitioners from across the country in a significant professional milestone marking the formal entry of new criminologists into public service. PCAP underscored the critical role of higher education institutions in cultivating competent, ethical, and community-oriented professionals, emphasizing that the recognition of exemplary performing schools reflects both the quality of instruction and the rigor of academic preparation. The event also reinforced professional unity through the induction of new members, highlighting shared commitments to uphold justice, public safety, and institutional integrity.

SPAMAST’s national recognition demonstrates its continued alignment with industry standards and its strategic contribution to developing highly qualified professionals in the field of criminology. The institution’s engagement in this milestone event strengthens its collaboration with national professional organizations and affirms its role in advancing quality education and public service. This achievement directly supports the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by ensuring academic excellence and equitable learning opportunities; SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by producing capable and principled law enforcement professionals; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by fostering meaningful collaboration between academic institutions and professional organizations toward sustainable national development.
