The Institute of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (IFMS) of the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) successfully hosted its first-ever Sea-Ensync Research Colloquium Sessions at the Physics Laboratory of the Malita Campus on April 30,2025.
The event gathered enthusiastic participation from fourth-year students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Fisheries, Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology, and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science programs. Organized by the Institute of Fisheries and Marine Sciences in close collaboration with the Research Development and Innovation Office, the colloquium served as a platform to showcase student research and technology outputs, while also identifying promising projects for future representation in regional and institutional research events.
The colloquium featured two main categories: the Research Category and the Technology (Product Development) Category, each highlighting the students’ innovative contributions to fisheries, marine sciences, and environmental sustainability.

This milestone event marks the beginning of an annual tradition by the Institute to nurture a strong research culture among students and prepare them for participation in wider academic and scientific forums. The Sea-Ensync Research Colloquium will serve as a springboard for student-researchers aiming to represent SPAMAST in regional and national research symposia in the fields of fisheries and marine sciences.
