
The Southern Philippines Agri-business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) successfully conducted the BSIT and ACT Exit Conference on May 20, 2026, at the institution’s Auditorium in Poblacion, Malita, Davao Occidental. Carrying the theme, “Shaping Industry Ready Tech Leaders Through Digital Experience,” the event gathered student interns, faculty members, academic officials, and industry partners in a meaningful academic engagement that showcased students’ practicum experiences and professional growth in the field of information technology. The conference served as a culminating activity that highlighted the institution’s continuing efforts to equip students with industry-relevant competencies and practical digital skills essential in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape.
The program commenced with an invocation and the singing of the national anthem through audiovisual presentations, followed by the opening remarks of Ms. Antonette R. Albarracin, MIT, BSIT/ACT Program Head, who underscored the value of experiential learning and industry immersion in shaping competent technology professionals. Student interns from the BSIT and ACT programs also presented an intermission number, adding vibrancy to the event. Inspirational messages were delivered by Dr. Marlyn B. Llameg, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Fe T. Canoy, Director for Instruction, both of whom emphasized the significance of innovation, adaptability, and professional ethics in preparing students for future careers in the digital sector. Meanwhile, Prof. Leo C. Radores, MSAE, Dean of ICET and representative of the host training establishments, expressed appreciation for the strong collaboration between industry partners and the institution in nurturing future IT practitioners.
One of the highlights of the activity was the awarding of certificates facilitated by Mr. Jelan S. Sartorio, Internship Instructor from Sta. Maria, recognizing the dedication and accomplishments of student interns throughout their practicum journey. The event also featured a community signing participated in by student interns and representatives from partner agencies, symbolizing strengthened partnerships and shared commitment to academic and professional excellence. Organizers emphasized that the successful conduct of the conference reflected SPAMAST’s dedication to bridging academic instruction with real-world industry demands and producing globally competitive graduates. Furthermore, the initiative aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education, SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals, through its promotion of digital competence, employability, and sustainable industry-academe collaboration.
