The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) and the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) officially sealed their partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony on November 18, 2024. The collaboration aims to establish a communal nursery, a significant initiative to bolster coconut production and agricultural sustainability in the region.
The event took place at the SAFE Building, SPAMAST Buhangin Campus, Malita, Davao Occidental, with key representatives from both institutions in attendance.
Dr. Elenito P. Bugawisan, in his opening message, emphasized the importance of collaboration between government agencies and educational institutions in advancing agricultural initiatives.
Messages of support and inspiration followed, starting with Regional Manager III of PCA Region XI, Ms. Juvy T. Alayon, who underscored the PCA’s commitment to fostering partnerships that align with their mission to strengthen the coconut industry. SPAMAST President, Dr. Lynette A. Bontia, also expressed her gratitude to PCA as a partner and reiterated the institution’s dedication to empowering communities through agricultural and technological advancements.
The highlight of the ceremony was the formal signing of the MOA, symbolizing the shared vision and commitment of PCA and SPAMAST to address the challenges in the coconut industry and promote sustainability.
The program concluded with a closing message delivered by Division Chief I, PCA-Davao City, Davao del Sur, and Davao Occidental, Mr. Noel A. Prieto.
