Building Bridges: SPAMAST Convocation Explores the Power of Tourism for Peace

The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) held a convocation on the theme “Tourism and Peace” on September 9, 2024, at the SPAMAST Auditorium in Malita, Davao Occidental. The event, organized by the Institute of Business Management and Governance, brought together students, faculty, and community leaders to explore the vital connection between tourism and peace in the province.

The convocation commenced with a solemn Word of God delivered by Mr. Bobby G. Carballo, Jr., Associate Pastor of the Jesus Is Lord Ministries International in Malita. His message set a reflective tone, emphasizing unity and spiritual growth.

Following the opening, the convocation officially began with a keynote address by Ms. Anna Christine Lora Bautista, who serves as the Information, Social Events, and Press Relations Officer and the Head of the Provincial Tourism Office of Davao Occidental. As the resource speaker, Ms. Bautista discussed the significant role that tourism plays in promoting peace and development in the province, highlighting key initiatives and projects aimed at fostering community harmony through sustainable tourism practices.

SPAMAST continues to lead efforts in addressing relevant social and economic issues through educational events and programs, reinforcing its commitment to community development and peacebuilding.
