
DAVAO CITY — Newly licensed criminologists and incoming members of the Philippine College of Criminology Alumni (PCAP) formally took their oath during a regional induction ceremony held on April 25, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier. The event highlighted academic excellence and professional commitment, with the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) emerging as one of the top-performing institutions nationwide. Representing the institution, Dr. Lynette A. Bontia, the SPAMAST President, received the Plaque of Recognition alongside Dr. Jonel Mark Sarno, Dean of the Institute of Human Service, in acknowledgment of SPAMAST’s outstanding performance in the recent Criminologist Licensure Examination.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) conferred upon SPAMAST a prestigious award for ranking among the Top 8 performing schools in the Philippines, achieving an impressive 94.12% passing rate. The ceremony also recognized the institution’s top-performing graduates, including Mhijlhon Montenid Abana, RCrim, who garnered a rating of 89.2%, and Jomari Borja Medel, RCrim, who achieved a notable 91.3%. Their accomplishments reflect the institution’s sustained commitment to academic rigor, quality instruction, and values-driven education, positioning its graduates to contribute meaningfully to law enforcement and public safety.
The oath-taking and induction ceremony not only marked a significant milestone for the new professionals but also underscored the broader role of educational institutions in nation-building. By producing competent and ethical criminologists, SPAMAST contributes to the advancement of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). These achievements affirm the institution’s alignment with global development priorities, reinforcing its mission to cultivate professionals who uphold justice, promote social order, and drive sustainable progress.
