SPAMAST Celebrates 124th Philippine Civil Service Day with Holy Mass, Recognitions, and Festivities

The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) marked the culmination of the 124th Philippine Civil Service Day on September 30, 2024, with a series of meaningful and festive events held at the SPAMAST Auditorium, Malita, Davao Occidental.

The celebration began with a solemn Holy Mass officiated by Fr. Juvy Adivino, MJ. The Mass was attended by SPAMAST employees, students, and alumni from the Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) program, particularly those who recently passed the Licensure Examination for Social Workers (SWLE). The SWLE passers received a special blessing during the ceremony, signifying guidance as they embark on their careers as Registered Social Workers.

Following the Mass, the celebration shifted to the much-anticipated “Pasendengeg 2024,” an awards ceremony that recognized outstanding SPAMAST employees for their exemplary performance in administrative and academic roles. The event was graced by Mr. Richard Ortiz, Provincial Director of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental, who honored the dedication and hard work of the awardees. All SPAMAST employees attended the ceremony in full support.

A highlight of the day’s festivities was the highly entertaining Drag Queen 2024 competition, where male employees transformed into drag queens, delighting the audience with vibrant costumes, runway walks, and lip-sync performances. Each contestant was supported by their team, who performed as back-up dancers during the lively productions, making it one of the most fun-filled moments of the event.

The celebration concluded with the announcement of the overall champions of the SPAMAST 124th CSC Anniversary. Teams competed in various activities, including mini-Olympics, traditional Filipino games (larong lahi), and the Drag Queen competition. The Yellow Team emerged as the overall champion, followed by the Green Team in second place, the Blue Team in third, and the Red Team in fourth.

The event was a joyful blend of reflection, recognition, and camaraderie, celebrating both the achievements of the institution and the spirit of public service.
