Bridging ecclesiastical tradition, public administration, and academic innovation, the Institute of Business, Management, and Governance (IBMG) hosted a landmark Convocation at the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) Founder’s Hall. Grounded in the national civil service theme, “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan,” the IBMG-led assembly simultaneously commemorated the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary and World Tourism Day 2026, encapsulating a shared commitment to ethical governance and localized socio-economic advancement on September 7,2026 at SPAMAST Founder’s Hall n.
The program opened with a Holy Mass led by Rev. Fr. Nestor Lisondra, DCD, followed by an academic processional and official remarks from IBMG Dean Rhenmar M. Galvez, MPA, and message from the SPAMAST President, Dr. Lynette A. Bontia. A key feature of the morning was the official reveal of the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) program.
A core highlight of the convocation was an open forum moderated by Mr. Bernard Jason Pacia, Program Head of Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA). Serving as guest speakers, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Hon. Carlo Chino G. Baliota and Davao Occidental Provincial Tourism Officer-Designate Anna Christine L. Bautista engaged the academic community on topics intersecting regional legislation, provincial tourism development, and public sector efficiency.
The program concluded with administrative acknowledgments, student commendations for extracurricular contributions, and the awarding of institutional tokens led by program heads including Prof. Julita T. Pamat.
Through IBMG’s strategic alignment of ethical public administration, higher education expansion, and regional leadership, this convocation directly contributes to the attainment of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by providing industry-aligned academic programs, Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through regional tourism capacity-building, and Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by promoting integrity, leadership, and effective governance within the public sector.
