ICAMARS 2024: SPAMAST Leads International Conference on Agriculture and Marine Science

Davao City, October 26, 2024 — The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) hosted its second International Conference on Agriculture, Marine, and Aquatic Resources at the Home Crest Hotel in Davao City. This prominent event, a collaboration between SPAMAST and renowned institutions including Universitas Borneo Tarakan, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, and the University of Western Australia, attracted scholars, researchers, and practitioners from across Asia and Philippine state universities and colleges.

The conference was spearheaded by the SPAMAST Office of Internationalization and External Linkages, led by Dr. Ariel E. San Jose, and attended by SPAMAST President Dr. Lynette A. Bontia.

Dr. Ir. Muhammad Djaya Bakri of Universitas Borneo Tarakan, an international partner institution, joined virtually, delivering an inspiring opening message that set the stage for collaborative discussions on innovations in agriculture and marine science. The event also saw participation from several Philippine state universities and international presenters, reinforcing SPAMAST’s dedication to advancing global solutions in agri-marine fields.

The conference featured a dynamic lineup of presenters who showcased their research and innovations in agriculture, marine, and aquatic fields. Participants from notable institutions such as Isabela State University, Mindanao State University, Samal Island City College, Bicol University, Palawan National High School, Camiguin Polytechnic State College, Visayas State University, and Romblon State University engaged in discussions both onsite and online.

The event underscored SPAMAST’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and promoting sustainable practices within the agri-marine sector. With a blend of academic presentations, interactive discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions, this conference emphasized collaborative efforts in advancing solutions to global challenges in agriculture and marine science.

SPAMAST continues to position itself as a regional leader in academia and research, paving the way for future conferences aimed at strengthening research and education networks both locally and internationally.
