CRIM Project Phase 2 Extension Activity Brings Crime-Responsive Initiatives

The Crime Responsive Initiatives for the Malitaneous (CRIM) Project Phase 2 Extension Activity was recently conducted in Barangay Sanghay Malita, Davao Occidental, organized by the Criminology Department of the Institute of Human Service in collaboration with the Extension Services Office of SPAMAST. The initiative, held on September 11, 2024, was led by Ms. Tarra Dawn Marquez, the project leader, Dr. Jonel Mark Sarno, the Program Head, and faculty members of the Criminology program, along with the internship students.

The event saw the participation of key resource persons from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, who contributed their expertise in addressing crucial topics such as the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020, as well as Arrest and Disarming Techniques. The audience included Barangay Officials, Parents, and Youth residing in the locality. The CRIM Project Phase 2 Extension Activity aimed to promote community awareness and preparedness by providing valuable insights into crime-responsive initiatives. 

This collaborative effort serves as a proactive approach to addressing concerns related to security and public safety, reinforcing the partnership between the community and law enforcement agencies. The engagement of diverse stakeholders in this initiative underscores the commitment to fostering a safer and more secure environment for the residents of Malita, Davao Occidental. 

The fruitful exchange of knowledge and practical strategies during the event is expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing efforts in maintaining peace and order in the area. The Institute of Human Service, the Criminology Department, and the Extension Services Office of SPAMAST are optimistic about the impact and sustainability of the CRIM Project Phase 2 Extension Activity, reflecting their dedication to supporting community-based initiatives focused on crime prevention and responsiveness.
