The Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering conducted an “๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐๐ซ ๐๐ง๐ฌ๐ฉ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ” to assess the compliance of the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (BSABE) program. The activity was held on January 13, 2025, at the SPAMAST Buhangin Campus, Malita, Davao Occidental. The ocular inspection aimed to evaluate the “program’s adherence” to national standards outlined in ๐น๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐จ๐๐ ๐ต๐. ๐๐๐๐๐, also known as the Philippine Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Law, and pertinent policies under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).ย
The inspection focused on three critical areas: ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ with CHED Memorandum Order No. 94, series of 2017, which sets the Policies, Standards, and Guidelines for the BSABE program. Specific objectives included, determining the qualifications and deployment of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers (ABEs) employed by SPAMAST, validating their Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) credentials, and assessing the adequacy of faculty staffing and laboratory facilities.ย
The PRB for Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, led by Chairperson ๐ฌ๐๐๐. ๐จ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ช. ๐น๐๐๐, with members ๐ฌ๐๐๐. ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฑ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ด. ๐ป๐๐ ๐ and PRC Regional Office XI representative ๐ฏ๐๐.๐ป๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฑ๐., facilitated the discussions and presented their insights. Engr. Tado underscored the importance of complying with ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐ 33 ๐๐ ๐น๐จ ๐ต๐. 10915 regarding the hiring and deployment of ABEs to teach core subjects in agriculture, fisheries, and related programs.ย
The program commenced with a warm welcome message delivered by Dr. Elenito P. Bugawisan, Dean of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences and Developmental Communication. The Program Head of BSABE, Engr. Leo C. Radores, presented the program’s achievements, current status, and compliance initiatives. SPAMAST President, Dr. Lynette A. Bontia, delivered a presidential message, expressing gratitude for the PRBโs guidance and underscoring the institution’s commitment to advancing the BSABE program. The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Marlyn B. Llameg, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who reiterated SPAMASTโs dedication to meeting national standards and fostering innovation in agricultural and biosystems engineering education.
The event was also graced by various SPAMAST officials, including key directors from planning, research, extension, accounting, human resources, and project development offices, along with faculty members of the BSABE program.
