With safety and preparedness at the forefront, the Southern Philippines Agri-Business, Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) joined the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on September 10, 2026, at exactly 2:00 p.m. at the SPAMAST Main Campus in Malita, Davao Occidental. The institution-wide activity gathered employees and students in a coordinated effort to strengthen awareness, readiness, and emergency response during earthquake-related incidents.The earthquake drill brought together SPAMAST employees and students in a unified demonstration of readiness, discipline, and awareness in the event of a seismic emergency.

The activity was facilitated by the SPAMAST Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), headed by its Director, Mr. Pericissimo Grado, who led the participants in carrying out the established earthquake preparedness and emergency response procedures.

Through the drill, participants were given the opportunity to practice essential safety measures, including the proper “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure, orderly evacuation, and coordination during an emergency. The exercise also emphasized the importance of remaining calm, following safety protocols, and working together to protect lives during disasters.

More than a compliance activity, the NSED served as a practical reminder that disaster preparedness is a shared responsibility. By actively engaging students and employees, SPAMAST continues to strengthen a culture of safety and resilience within the institution.
