SPAMAST Launches 3rd Multidisciplinary Student Research Congress, Highlighting Student-Led Research and Innovation

The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), through its Research Development and Innovation Office (RDIO), officially launched the 3rd Multidisciplinary Student Research Congress on June 3, 2026, at the Founder’s Hall, SPAMAST Main Campus in Malita, Davao Occidental. The event was spearheaded by the Vice President for Research, Innovation, Development, and Extension (RIDE), Dr. Edelyn S. Albiso, together with the Director for Research, Dr. Grace D. Buencillo, underscoring the institution’s commitment to fostering a vibrant culture of research, innovation, and academic excellence among its students.

The two-day academic gathering serves as a platform for undergraduate and graduate student researchers to showcase innovative studies, share scientific knowledge, and contribute solutions to contemporary societal, technological, and environmental challenges.

The first day featured presentations under three thematic areas: (1) Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources; (2) Social, Cultural Development, Health, and Wellness; and (3) Technology, including Precision Agriculture, Automation, and Programming. Student presenters from various academic programs demonstrated their research competencies and commitment to advancing knowledge through evidence-based inquiry.

Through this congress, SPAMAST continues to strengthen its culture of research and innovation, empowering students to become future scholars, innovators, and catalysts of sustainable development.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the congress contributes to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) through agricultural and aquatic research, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through health and wellness studies, SDG 4 (Quality Education) by fostering student research and innovation, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through technological advancements and automation, SDG 13 (Climate Action) through environmental and natural resource-related research, and SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 15 (Life on Land) through studies promoting biodiversity conservation and sustainable resource management.
