In front of one of the buildings of the Supreme Court in Padre Faura, Manila, stand two symbolic figures—Moses, holding the Ten Commandments, and Lady Justice, blindfolded, holding a balanced scale and a sword. These images remind us that justice is rooted both in the law and in fairness. Moses represents the source of moral and legal standards, while Lady Justice symbolizes fair judgment, equality, and discipline in enforcing the law.
Justice is not just a legal term—it is a way of life. It means being fair, impartial, and righteous, especially when no one is watching. Bisan dili kita huwes o pinili nga opisyal, kita gihapon gitawag nga magpakita og hustisya sa tanang aspeto sa atong trabaho. Whether in frontline services or administrative roles, giving what is due—ang angay nga serbisyo, ang hustong respeto, ug ang matarong nga pagtrato—is our daily call to justice. Ang pagpakabana sa kaayohan sa uban, ug paglikay sa pabor-pabor, mao ang tinood nga katarungan.
If we are in leadership, we must act with integrity and treat our team with respect and dignity. If we are staff, we must work with excellence and honor our responsibilities. Justice calls us to follow rules, respect others, and uphold truth and fairness in every transaction. As Scripture says, “Whatever is true, whatever is right… think about such things.” When we walk in justice, we reflect the heart of public service and build a workplace where truth, peace, and fairness thrive. Himoon nato ang hustisya, dili lang sa pulong, kundi sa buhat.
𝑨𝑪𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵 𝑷𝑳𝑨𝑵:
- Reflect on whether there are people in your family, workplace, or community whom you may have treated unfairly. Identify what caused this and how you can make it right. If given the chance, what will you do differently?
- Think about how you can promote justice in your home, workplace, and neighborhood. Are there situations where your small actions can help reduce or stop injustice?
- Create a simple action plan on how you can promote fairness and justice in your daily life— one step at a time.
