Training on Social Preparation and Values Formation for Small-Scale Fish Farmers

Being one of the target activities to be conducted during the implementation of the project “Enabling Food Sufficient Communities through Community-Based Participatory Action Research,” the project staff facilitated the seminar on Social Preparation and Values Formation for Small-Scale Fish Farmers on July 31 – August 2, 2024. The said event took place in the following areas: Barangay Tical, Malita, Barangay Manuel Peralta, Malita and Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental.

Spearheaded by the project leader, Mr. Kher Dave Doños,such seminar emanated a comprehensive discussion pertaining to the Basic Concept of Gender and Development, which was cascaded through the initiative of Ms. Anna May Baldomero. Afterwards, the talking session on the Organizational Building and Strengthening was delivered by Mr. Doños. Participants actively participated in each activity throughout the conduct, including the Expectation Setting where they have conveyed their varying views and opinions to the training. A brief workshop regarding the respective duties and responsibilities of the gender roles was also enacted. Lastly, the distribution of farming jackets as initial project gear was also done.

The duration of such training was successful due to the unifying participation of each project beneficiary. In like manner, the engagement of the Municipal Agriculture Offices added support for meeting the activity’s goal. In general, this seminar aims to instill social awareness among the beneficiaries regarding their individual tasks as members of the community.
