SPAMAST Holds Stakeholders’ Consultation on Curriculum Revisions for Undergraduate and Graduate Programs

Malita, Davao Occidental, October 23, 2024 — The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) recently held a comprehensive stakeholders’ consultation on proposed curriculum revisions for undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as the introduction of an additional offering for the Bookkeeping NC II program. The event took place at the SPAMAST Auditorium in Malita.

Dr. Marlyn B. Llameg, the Vice President for Academic Affairs expressed the importance of community input in SPAMAST’s academic evolution, stating, “As an institution, we strive to ensure that our curriculum remains relevant and responsive to the needs of our students, the workforce, and the community. Stakeholder feedback is a critical component in this process.”

Facilitated by Dr. Fe T. Canoy, Director for Curriculum and Instruction, the event allowed parents, alumni, students, and partner agencies to review the proposed changes. The consultation included presentations by the Deans and program heads, who highlighted curriculum updates to enhance academic and professional readiness. The proposed Bookkeeping NC II program was introduced as an additional offering to support practical skills in financial record-keeping, addressing the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the accounting and business sectors.

Breakout sessions allowed stakeholders to actively engage with faculty and administrators, providing feedback and discussing the curriculum’s responsiveness to community and industry needs. Dr. Llameg emphasized the significance of these sessions, stating, “Stakeholder feedback ensures that our curriculum remains relevant and competitive, and aligns with SPAMAST’s commitment to producing competent graduates.”

The recommendations gathered will be reviewed and integrated by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, as SPAMAST works to maintain and expand its quality programs in line with industry standards and community needs.
