May 12,2025- The 2025 National and Local Elections were marked by a smooth, secure, and successful implementation, largely thanks to the strategic partnership between the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). At the forefront of this achievement were highly skilled personnel from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the country — including a commendable delegation from the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST).
Under a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between COMELEC and CHED, HEIs like SPAMAST were instrumental in the training, upskilling, and deployment of hundreds of technical personnel who served as Consolidation Canvassing System (CCS) Technicians, Technical Support Staff, and Repair Hub Technicians in various parts of the Davao Region and beyond.
SPAMAST faculty and IT-trained professionals played crucial roles in ensuring the integrity and reliability of the electoral process. Their technical expertise and commitment to public service contributed significantly to the seamless operation of election technologies during the May 2025 polls.
Among the SPAMAST-trained personnel who served in various capacities were:
CCS Technicians & Technical Support Personnel
- King Ressurrects Nuevo – Malalag, Davao del Sur
- John Paul Varela – Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental
- Harold Caparida – Malita, Davao Occidental
- Joselito J. Mebolos – Sarangani, Davao Occidental
- Abdullah P. Mangulayon – Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental
- Dandy Dalina – Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental
Repair Hub Technicians
- Antonette R. Albarracin – Davao del Sur
- Joannes Paulus Jaso – Davao Occidental
These dedicated professionals exemplified the power of higher education in public service, showcasing SPAMAST’s role as a key driver of civic responsibility and technological readiness.
The CHED-COMELEC initiative not only enhanced the technical capabilities of participating HEIs but also reaffirmed the role of academic institutions in supporting democratic processes through innovation, training, and skilled manpower.
The institution and the broader SPAMAST community extend heartfelt congratulations to their election heroes. Their integrity, skill, and unwavering dedication have left a lasting impact on the nation’s democratic journey.
