On September 26, 2024, the SPAMAST Auditorium in Malita, Davao Occidental became a hub for scientific discourse and inspiration as the Balik Siyentista Forum for Future Innovators took center stage. Organized by the Teacher Education Program’s Science and Mathematics majors, the event sought to ignite the passion for innovation among young minds.
Spearheading the event were Ms. Vanessa Angelica D. Acosta, Program Head of BSED-Mathematics, and Ms. Jea Farida Guroalim, Program Head of BSED-Science, in collaboration with the Research Development and Innovation Office (RDI), led by Director Dr. Grace D. Buencillo. Their collective efforts brought forth an engaging platform for the students to interact with esteemed Filipino scientists.
The forum was graced by three renowned “Balik Scientists”: Dr. Chosel P. Lawagon, Dr. Terence Al Abaquita, and Dr. Khino Parohinog, who shared their vast knowledge and experiences. These scientists, who have made significant contributions to their respective fields, offered valuable insights into the future of scientific research and innovation in the Philippines.
The interactive event saw active participation from the students, particularly those majoring in BSED Science and BSED Mathematics. Through the forum, these future educators and innovators were exposed to cutting-edge research and inspired to pursue careers that could shape the future of science and technology in the country.
