The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) Program with a major in Horticulture has received a positive recommendation for the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) following an evaluation by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region XI.
The evaluation visit took place on September 26, 2024, at SPAMAST’s Buhangin Campus in Malita, Davao Occidental. The CHED XI, led by Regional Director Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo, accompanied by Education Supervisor II Dr. Lourdes D. Cesar and Dr. Luis Perez, thoroughly assessed the program’s adherence to CHED’s academic standards. The team evaluated key areas such as student support facilities, infrastructure, laboratories, and student services to ensure that the BSA program meets the minimum requirements set for higher education institutions.
SPAMAST faculty and staff, headed by college President Dr. Lynette A. Bontia, warmly welcomed the CHED XI evaluators. The visit culminated in positive feedback, highlighting the institution’s strong efforts to comply with the necessary academic and institutional requirements.
Special recognition is given to the Institute of Agricultural Sciences and Development Communication (IASDC), led by its Dean, Dr. Elenito P. Bugawisan, along with the BSA program faculty, headed by Chairperson Prof. Imelda Mariano. Their collaborative efforts were instrumental in ensuring that the BSA program achieved compliance with CHED standards. The success of the evaluation is a significant milestone for SPAMAST, underscoring the institution’s commitment to providing quality education and support to its students.
