The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) successfully conducted a virtual AACCUP (Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines) accreditation survey visit from September 2 to 4, 2024. The programs assessed were the Master of Arts in Education, major in Educational Management, Master of Science in Marine Biodiversity, Bachelor of Science in Agri-Business, and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
The event commenced with an opening meeting, during which SPAMAST President Dr. Lynette A. Bontia welcomed the participants and highlighted the institution’s commitment to quality education. Dr. Jovelyn L. Franca, SPAMAST’s Director for Quality Assurance, introduced the panel of accreditors. At the same time, Dr. Niño B. Corpuz, the overall coordinator for the survey visit, outlined the objectives and procedures for the accreditation process.
The programs were assessed through a virtual platform, with each department ensuring uninterrupted access to the Internet and maintaining an efficient work environment to address the accreditors’ concerns. Day two involved interviews with key stakeholders and the submission of documentary requirements for accreditation.
The survey concluded on September 4 with a closing meeting at the SPAMAST Auditorium, where the accreditation task force gathered in person while the accreditors participated virtually. Dr. Corpuz presented impressions of the programs based on the virtual assessment, offering valuable insights for future improvements and continued development.
The successful accreditation survey marks a significant step in SPAMAST’s ongoing efforts to uphold academic excellence and ensure the quality of its educational offerings.
