Tri-Nation Research Colloquium Highlights Sustainable Marine Science Initiatives

June 25, 2025 — In a remarkable display of academic collaboration, the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), and Universitas Borneo Tarakan (UBT) convened virtually for the Tri-Academic Institute Research Colloquium on Marine Science and Aquatic Resources, held via Google Meet.

With the theme “Sustainable Marine Resources, Shared Responsibility,” the event brought together marine scientists, faculty researchers, and students from the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia to exchange cutting-edge research and foster deeper regional cooperation in marine sustainability.

The colloquium showcased a range of scientific studies focused on the conservation and sustainable use of marine and aquatic resources. 

The virtual colloquium served not only as a platform for scientific knowledge-sharing but also as a testament to the strength of regional cooperation in addressing the urgent need for sustainable marine resource management.

Organizers from SPAMAST, UMS, and UBT expressed optimism that this collaboration would continue to yield impactful research, policy recommendations, and educational exchange, reinforcing their shared commitment to marine conservation in Southeast Asia.
