The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) hosted the officials of the Department of Science and Technology Region XI, led by Regional Director Dr. Anthony C. Sales, during their institutional visit on December 8, 2025 at the SPAMAST I-Hub, Malita, Davao Occidental.
The visit was attended by DOST XI personnel together with representatives from DOST Davao Occidental. SPAMAST was represented by its Research and Academic teams headed by Dr. Edelyn S. Albiso, Director for Research Development and Extension, and Dr. Marlyn B. Llameg, Vice President for Academic Affairs.
One of the central points of discussion was the potential collaboration on a pilot project focused on establishing a Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries, a vital step toward supporting sustainable coastal resource management and empowering local fishing communities. Both institutions also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ongoing partnerships in research, innovation, and extension initiatives.
This collaborative effort underscores SPAMAST’s dedication to advancing science-based programs that contribute to community development and environmental stewardship.
This initiative supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 14: Life Below Water, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
