SPAMAST Unites Faculty and Staff to Chart Strategic Direction for 2026

The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) convened its Faculty and Administrative Staff Convergence 2026 on January 12 at the SPAMAST Founder’s Hall in Malita, Davao Occidental, bringing together academic and administrative leaders to set institutional priorities for the year ahead. Held at 8:00 a.m., the convergence served as a platform for aligning strategic directions, strengthening governance, and reinforcing shared commitments to quality education and public service. The program formally opened with registration and preliminaries, followed by patriotic rites, values formation, and welcome remarks delivered by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Marlyn B. Llameg, underscoring the institution’s collective responsibility to uphold excellence and integrity.

At the core of the convergence was the presentation of SPAMAST’s 2026 General Strategic Directions by the College President Dr. Lynette A. Bontia, which outlined priority thrusts aimed at sustaining institutional growth and responsiveness. This was complemented by the presentation of the PRO and cascading of targets by the Planning Officer II, Mrs. Edel Quinn D. Casis, ensuring that strategic goals were translated into actionable targets across offices. Major Priority Research and Extension (PRE) projects for 2026 were also presented by Supervising Administrative Officer Mr. Edwin G. Ostique, highlighting initiatives designed to strengthen research productivity, innovation, and community engagement. Key discussions on academic, administrative, and RIDE (Research, Innovation, Development and Extension) concerns by Dr. Edelyn Albiso, further reinforced the convergence as a venue for transparent dialogue and collaborative problem-solving.

The activity concluded with an open forum and closing remarks from Vice President for Administration and Finance Dr. Janet R. Octura, affirming the administration’s commitment to inclusive leadership and continuous improvement. Beyond internal alignment, the convergence reflected SPAMAST’s broader contribution to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthened academic planning, SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by promoting accountable and participatory governance, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through institutional collaboration and shared responsibility. Through this convergence, SPAMAST reaffirmed its role as a responsive public higher education institution dedicated to sustainable development and inclusive growth.
