SPAMAST Students Selected as Finalists in National Young farmers Challenge 2025 Representing Region XI

Baguio City, Benguet – July 17, 2025 — Students from the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) emerged as finalists in the Batch 24 National Young Farmers Challenge (NYFC) held today in Baguio City. They represented Region XI in the Intercollegiate Category – Digital Agriculture.

The team, composed of Geneva C. Pahil, Alexandra Nicole P. Decolas, and Francis Lloyd T. Otordos, showcased their project titled “BioFusion 360: IoT Powered Lettuce, Crayfish, and Tilapia System,” with their coach, Engr. Ellthon I. Turtor. The system utilizes Internet of Things (IoT) technology to automate and enhance aquaponics production, promoting sustainable and efficient agriculture.

Their participation was supported by the Department of Agriculture – Regional Office XI, led by RTD for Operations Marie Ann M. Constantino and the Regional Program Management Team (RPMT).

SPAMAST proudly recognizes the achievement of its students and reaffirms its commitment to promoting agricultural innovation and youth involvement in the agri-tech sector.
