SPAMAST Strengths International Linkages with University College Sabah Foundation, Malaysia

In its steadfast pursuit of internationalization and global academic excellence, the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) has taken another significant step by forging a partnership with the University College Sabah Foundation, Sabah, Malaysia. The collaboration was formalized through a Letter of Intent (LOI) signed during the BIMP-EAGA International Research Conference and Training in Puerto Princesa, Palawan on August 26,2025, signaling future cooperation in research, extension, and academic endeavors that will benefit both institutions. 

Representing SPAMAST was Dr. Edelyn S. Albiso, Vice President for Research and Extension, on behalf of College President Dr. Lynette A. Bontia. Meanwhile, the University College Sabah Foundation was represented by its Vice Chancellor, Datuin Dr. Rafiq Idress.

The ceremony was further highlighted by the presence of Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region XI Director, Dr. Maricar Casquejo, who witnessed the signing alongside officials of both institutions.

The partnership aims to open opportunities for academic collaboration, research engagement, and capacity-building initiatives, strengthening regional cooperation in line with the BIMP-EAGA framework. This endeavor also underscores SPAMAST’s commitment to internationalization and to fostering knowledge exchange across borders.
