SPAMAST Strengthens Research Drive at Seminar-Workshop on Building Globally-Ranked Universities

The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) actively participated in the Seminar-Workshop on Developing a Research-Intensive, Globally-Ranked and Impactful University held on February 23–24, 2026 at the World Palace Hotel.

The two-day seminar-workshop gathered leaders and representatives from various higher education institutions in Davao region, aiming to strengthen institutional research capacity, global competitiveness, and academic impact. The activity featured distinguished resource persons from GHF University Excellence, including Prof. Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno III, Founder; Jerico B. Ogaya, National Program Manager; and Christian Joseph N. Ong, Deputy National Program Manager.

Representing SPAMAST, the delegation composed of key academic and research officials demonstrated the College’s strong commitment to advancing research excellence and aligning its strategic directions with global standards. Their participation underscored SPAMAST’s proactive efforts to transform into a more research-driven and internationally visible institution.

The seminar-workshop focused on essential themes such as building a research-intensive culture, improving global university rankings performance, enhancing publication outputs, fostering international collaborations, and strengthening institutional research governance frameworks. Participants engaged in strategic planning sessions and collaborative discussions designed to benchmark institutional practices against global standards.

SPAMAST’s attendance reflects its continuing pursuit of innovation, quality assurance, and sustainable academic growth. As a state college serving farmers, fisherfolk, and local communities in Southern Mindanao, the institution recognizes that research excellence plays a crucial role in driving community development, policy formulation, and industry advancement.
