Davao City, May 29, 2025 — The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) reaffirmed its commitment to advancing volunteerism in higher education as it actively participated in the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing between the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges – Region XI (PASUC XI) and the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA).
Held at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) in Davao City, the ceremony was attended by SPAMAST President, Dr. Lynette A. Bontia, who was among the PASUC XI officials to sign the agreement. Dr. Bontia was accompanied by Dr. Grace D. Buencillo, SPAMAST’s Director for Research, further emphasizing the institution’s commitment to integrating research and volunteerism in community development initiatives.
The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration between SUCs in Region XI and PNVSCA in promoting volunteerism as a vital component of higher education’s role in national development. SPAMAST’s active participation in this initiative demonstrates its ongoing efforts to build a culture of service and social responsibility among its faculty, staff, and students.
As part of PASUC XI, SPAMAST is expected to play a key role in implementing volunteer programs that align with research, extension, and instruction—integrating academic excellence with community empowerment.
Dr. Bontia’s engagement in this regional partnership reflects SPAMAST’s strategic vision to be a catalyst for inclusive growth through education, innovation, and civic action.
