SPAMAST Researchers Participate in DOST-NRCP Annual Conference; New Associate Member Takes Oath

Researchers from the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) actively participated in the OneDOST4U: Solutions and Opportunities for All organized by the Department of Science and Technology through the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) on March 13, 2026, at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

Representing SPAMAST in the national gathering were NRCP members Ariel E. San Jose, Glenford Franca, and Leizl Mancao, who joined fellow researchers, scientists, and academic leaders from across the country in discussions highlighting innovative research, science-based solutions, and opportunities that support national development.

The OneDOST4U event served as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among researchers and institutions, emphasizing the role of science, technology, and innovation in addressing societal challenges and advancing inclusive growth. Participants explored programs and initiatives that strengthen research linkages, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and encourage evidence-based policymaking.

A significant highlight of the event was the oath-taking of new associate members of the NRCP. Among those who formally joined the distinguished body of researchers was Michelle M. Elemino, who took her oath as an Associate Member, marking another milestone in SPAMAST’s continued engagement in national research networks.

The participation of SPAMAST researchers in the event reinforces the institution’s commitment to advancing research and innovation that contribute to national and community development.

Through active involvement in national research initiatives such as NRCP, SPAMAST continues to strengthen its role in knowledge generation and scientific collaboration, supporting the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
