The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) proudly marked another milestone in its growing research culture as one of its institutional-funded studies earned international recognition.
The project, “Exploring the Influence of Gender Awareness, Cultural Awareness, and Religious Literacy on Shaping Students’ Academic Experience: Basis for Enhancing Student Services Program,” led by Dr. Aldwin T. Miranda, was accepted for presentation during the prestigious 15th International Communication in the New World Congress.
Representing the research team, Prof. Ritchell Ann Hervas presented the paper via Zoom Teleconferencing on November 19, 2025. The specific study featured in the congress, “The Effects of Gender Awareness on College Students’ Academic Life Satisfaction,” was co-authored by Prof. Imelda T. Lauron, Prof. Lalaine M. Gella, Prof. Joeper M. Abella, and Dr. Aldwin T. Miranda.
This research initiative showcases the collaborative efforts of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), Institute of Teacher Education (ITEd), Institute of Arts and Sciences (IAS), and the Gender and Development (GAD) Unit, demonstrating SPAMAST’s commitment to interdisciplinary work and evidence-based enhancement of student support programs.
In advancing discussions on gender sensitivity, cultural inclusiveness, and religious literacy in the academic environment, this project contributes to the achievement of SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
