The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) formally convened its academic community for the State of the College Address (SOCA) of its 6th President, Dr. Lynette A. Bontia, on February 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM, held at the Founder’s Hall, Malita, Davao Occidental.
Attended by SPAMAST officials, partner agencies, faculty and staff, and students, the SOCA served as a strategic platform to reflect on institutional accomplishments, assess current challenges, and articulate the college’s future directions anchored on quality education, innovation, and global standards.
In her address, Dr. Bontia presented key milestones achieved under her administration, highlighting gains in instruction, research and innovation, extension services, student development, and institutional governance. She emphasized the importance of evidence-based leadership, strengthened partnerships, and responsive academic programs in advancing SPAMAST’s mandate as a premier higher education institution in agri-business and marine and aquatic sciences.
The President also underscored the role of faculty and staff empowerment, student-centered learning, and collaborative engagement with local, national, and international partners in sustaining institutional excellence. Infrastructure development, digital transformation, and quality assurance mechanisms were likewise identified as critical pillars in positioning SPAMAST for global competitiveness.
Dr. Bontia called on the SPAMAST community to remain united in purpose, encouraging stakeholders to actively participate in realizing the college’s vision of inclusive growth, innovation-driven development, and community impact. She reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in service to the region and the nation.
The State of the College Address formed part of the 44th Founding Anniversary celebration of SPAMAST, reinforcing the institution’s enduring legacy while setting a clear and forward-looking agenda for its future.
