
The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) officially opened the celebration of its 44th Founding Anniversary through a meaningful Convocation Program, coinciding with the institution’s observance of National Arts Month under the theme “Ani ng Sining, Katutuhanan at Giting.”
Held at the SPAMAST Founder’s Hall, the gathering brought together administrators, faculty, staff, students, and invited guests in a collective celebration of institutional pride, cultural identity, and shared commitment to public service and academic excellence.
The day commenced with a Holy Mass, followed by the convocation program and the blessing of the newly constructed canteen building—symbolizing both spiritual grounding and continuous campus development as SPAMAST marks another milestone in its journey.
Delivering the opening message, BSDC Program Head Prof. Shawn Marcel A. Medina reflected on SPAMAST’s 44-year legacy as an institution shaped by collective effort and driven by its mission to provide quality education that transforms lives and communities.
Art and creativity took center stage through intermission performances by SPAMAST’s own Kalikha Dance Company and the institution’s National Qualifier in the Short and Sweet Play, highlighting the richness of Filipino artistry and reinforcing the spirit of National Arts Month.
The guest message was delivered on behalf of invited guest speaker Councilor Estefanie Bautista-Dumama, represented by Ms. Rhynn M. Sakay, one of his secretaries. In her message, Ms. Sakay conveyed the councilor’s congratulations and steadfast support for SPAMAST, recognizing the institution’s vital role in producing culturally grounded, socially responsible, and competent graduates who contribute meaningfully to local and national development.
Messages of support followed from SPAMAST President Dr. Lynette A. Bontia, complemented by institutional updates from the Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs, Administration and Finance, and Research, Innovation, Development, and Extension—underscoring SPAMAST’s continued pursuit of excellence, innovation, and responsive service.
Through the convocation program, SPAMAST reaffirmed its identity as an institution anchored on culture, truth, courage, and excellence—honoring its legacy while strengthening its role in advancing the arts, education, and community development as it moves forward into another year of service.
