Malita, Davao Occidental – The Institute of Business Management and Governance (IBMG) Student Government Organization of SPAMAST, in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Davao Occidental, held a Consumers Welfare Forum on October 21, 2024, at the SPAMAST Auditorium. Themed “Be SMART, Assert Your Consumer Rights!”, the forum focused on raising awareness about consumer protection and rights.
Resource speakers from local business establishments, including Personal Collection’s Malita Branch, alongside Mr. Candido H. Limikid, the Program Manager of DTI-Davao Occidental, and Mr. Jay Pee A. Lascuña, led insightful discussions on the importance of informed consumerism and its legal foundations. The event aimed to empower participants with the knowledge to assert their consumer rights and make informed decisions in today’s competitive market. Through these discussions, attendees gained a deeper understanding of their rights and responsibilities as consumers, equipping them to navigate the modern marketplace more effectively.
SPAMAST officials were present, with Dr. Marlyn B. Llameg, Vice President for Academic Affairs, representing the institution. Prof. Glenn M. Demillo, Dean of IBMG, along with faculty members and student organization officers, played pivotal roles in the successful execution of the event. Students from IBMG, MSME Owners, and the Business Permit and Licensing Office actively participated, engaging in discussions and enhancing their understanding of consumer welfare and protection.
