SPAMAST Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Infrastructure Projects to Strengthen Academics and Student Support Facilities

The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) marked another milestone in its continuing commitment to providing quality education and improved learning environments through the Groundbreaking Ceremony for two major infrastructure projects on October 20, 2025, at the SPAMAST Malita Campus, Poblacion, Malita, Davao Occidental.

The event highlighted the start of Project 1: Design and Construction of a Three-Storey Classroom Building (Replacement of Earthquake-Damaged Classroom Building – Establishment of Program Learning Center in Malita Campus Phase 2 of 3) and Project 2: Establishment of Balays (Residence Halls) at Malita Campus (Phase 2 of 2). These projects represent SPAMAST’s unwavering dedication to providing state-of-the-art facilities conducive to academic excellence and holistic student development.

The new classroom building is envisioned to serve as a modern learning hub, equipped with improved learning spaces to replace structures affected by previous earthquakes. Meanwhile, the construction of the Balays or residence halls will provide comfortable and secure accommodations for students—particularly those coming from far-flung areas—ensuring that distance will no longer be a barrier to access quality education.

In addition to the groundbreaking, the blessing of two newly procured service vehicles was also conducted. These vehicles will bolster the institution’s operational efficiency, enabling better mobility and service delivery for academic and administrative functions.

This significant development reaffirms SPAMAST’s commitment to advancing its mission of providing transformative, accessible, and sustainable education. As the institution continues to invest in infrastructure and innovation, these projects serve as tangible symbols of progress—aligning with national goals for resilient, inclusive, and quality higher education in the countryside.

Indeed, SPAMAST is not only building structures—but also building the future, contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
