The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) actively participates in the Davao Occidental Tourism Summit, which runs from October 14 to 16, 2024, at the ABC Gymnasium in SPAMAST Malita, Davao Occidental. Organized by the Provincial Tourism Office, the summit is a key event leading up to the celebration of the 9th Araw ng Davao Occidental.
SPAMAST’s participation is led by the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) students and faculty, with Program Head Prof. Elcir Doanne Escalante and TLE Instructor Prof. Ariel M. Larobis spearheading the efforts. Together, they arranged a booth with a design inspired by the local Indigenous Peoples (IP), blending traditional elements with a modern aesthetic that captured the attention of attendees.
Highlighting the institution’s entrepreneurial spirit, the team proudly displayed an array of originally crafted products, including cookies, tarts, pickles, and vinegar. These products, made by SPAMAST students, showcased their food processing and product development skills. Additionally, SPAMAST’s Extension Services Office presented “Bangus” products through the SAFE Hub, further promoting the institution’s engagement in sustainable agriculture and fisheries education.
The Tourism Summit serves as a platform for SPAMAST to demonstrate its commitment to local industry and cultural preservation while promoting the talents and ingenuity of its students and faculty.
