The Gender and Development (GAD) Team of the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) actively participated in the 5th National GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) Convention held on September 1-3, 2025 at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, Ortigas Avenue, Quezon City.
Representing SPAMAST were Prof. Imelda T. Lauron, GAD Director; Ms. May Franz Remoto-Manisan, Budget Officer; and Mr. Jasper Hendrix V. Alcalen, SPAMAST GAD Focal.
The three-day convention gathered GAD focal persons, advocates, and practitioners from across the country to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and strengthen institutional mechanisms for gender-responsive governance. With the theme centered on advancing inclusive development through gender mainstreaming, the event featured plenary sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities designed to empower GFPS members in implementing gender-sensitive programs and policies within their institutions.
By attending the convention, the SPAMAST GAD Team reaffirmed its commitment to upholding gender equality and women’s empowerment in education and community development. The insights and strategies gained from the national gathering are expected to enrich the institution’s ongoing GAD initiatives and further align its programs with national goals on gender mainstreaming.
