SPAMAST Employees Embrace Wellness Through SWEAT 2025 Event

Malita, Davao Occidental – May 28, 2025 — The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) came alive with energy and camaraderie as employees gathered at the SPAMAST Open Field for this year’s SWEAT: Sports and Wellness for Employees in Action.

The program opened with an inspiring message from Dr. Edelyn S. Albiso, Vice President for Administration and Finance, who emphasized the importance of balancing work and wellness.

The program’s highlight was the Introduction of Teams and Cheers, where employees from different departments showed team spirit through color-themed groups: Blue, Yellow, Green, and Red. This was followed by a motivational message from SPAMAST President, Dr. Lynette A. Bontia, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to fostering employee wellness and teamwork.

Tournament managers detailed the mechanics of the games, ensuring fair play and fun for all participants. The Oath of Sportsmanship was led by Dr. Pedro M. Avenido, promoting values of respect, unity, and integrity among all teams. The ceremonial Tossing of the Ball led by Dr. Bontia and team leaders officially marked the beginning of the friendly competitions.

Dr. Rey H. Gonzales, the SWEAT focal person, delivered the closing remarks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event.

As part of promoting physical fitness, the program continued with a lively Zumba session facilitated by Prof. Vinn Marco S. Miguel, Focal for Dance and Arts, followed by a Community Run around the SPAMAST Oval, encouraging employees to stay active and healthy.

The SWEAT 2025 event proved to be more than just a sporting day, it was a celebration of unity, health, and the dynamic spirit of SPAMAST’s workforce.
