The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) successfully celebrated the culmination of the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary with the theme “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal at Galing Para sa Bayan” at the SPAMAST Founder’s Hall on September 30, 2025.
The program opened with an invocation, the singing of the national anthem, Malita hymn, and Civil Service hymn, followed by the Panunumpa ng Lingkod Bayan led by Mr. Edwin G. Ostique, Supervising Administrative Officer. Dr. Janet R. Octura, Vice President for Administration and Finance, officially welcomed the participants through her opening remarks.
In her inspirational message, Dr. Lynette A. Bontia, SPAMAST President, highlighted the vital role of public servants in upholding integrity and excellence in government service. She underscored SPAMAST’s unwavering commitment to its mandate of quality education and service to the community.
Adding significance to the event was the message from Dir. Richard T. Ortiz, CSC Provincial Director of Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental, who reminded civil servants of their noble duty as pillars of good governance.
One of the highlights was the awarding of plaques and tokens to outstanding employees and winners of the SWEAT Activities, led by Mr. Benedict Lecotario, Sports Coordinator. Intermission numbers from the Red, and Yellow team added a lively spirit to the celebration, showcasing the talents and camaraderie of SPAMAST employees.
The presentation of Pasedengeg 2025, delivered by Dr. Marlyn B. Llameg, PRAISE Chairperson, further emphasized the institution’s dedication to recognizing employee excellence.
The event concluded with the closing remarks of Dr. Edelyn S. Albiso, Vice President for Research, Innovation, Development, and Extension (VP-RIDE), who expressed gratitude to all employees for their dedication and service to the institution and the nation.
The celebration not only honored the contributions of SPAMAST employees but also reaffirmed the values of integrity, passion, and commitment that define the Filipino civil service for the past 125 years.

Through this activity, SPAMAST strengthened its pursuit of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by fostering accountable, transparent, and effective public service for the community and the nation.
