The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) successfully hosted a transformative workshop titled “Crafting Futures Thinking Agenda and Proposals” on November 26–27, 2024, at Haven’s Dew Resort, Sitio Balutakay, Barangay Managa, Bansalan, Davao del Sur.
The two-day event gathered project leaders and researchers from SPAMAST to engage in sessions that explored the significance of Futures Thinking and Strategic Foresight in higher education. The activity was designed to strengthen institutional planning and foster innovative approaches for addressing challenges in the education sector.
The sessions were facilitated by highly regarded experts in the field: Dr. Eliseo Huesca Jr., an authority in Futures Thinking from Davao del Norte State College (DNSC), Mr. Joshua Elardo, a strategic planning professional also from DNSC, and Dr. Daisy T. Besing, a distinguished expert from the University of Southeastern Philippines.
The workshop reflects SPAMAST’s commitment to fostering innovation and excellence in education and research. By integrating Futures Thinking into its operations, the institution seeks to enhance its capacity to anticipate challenges and seize emerging opportunities.
The activity concluded with formulating collaborative outputs, laying the groundwork for SPAMAST’s Futures Thinking Agenda, and ensuring its proactive engagement with the demands of a rapidly evolving educational landscape.
