SPAMAST Conducts Training-Workshop on 4A’s-Based Learning Modules

The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) successfully conducted a Training-Workshop on Designing 4A’s-Based Learning Modules on November 26, 2025 at the Founder’s Hall, SPAMAST Malita, Davao Occidental. The event gathered faculty members for a day of intensive capacity-building focused on strengthening module development using the 4A’s learning framework—Activity, Analysis, Abstraction, and Application.

The training officially opened with preliminaries, followed by the introduction of the first resource speaker, Dr. Sambay P. Mila, Instructor III from the University of Southern Mindanao – PALMA Cluster Campuses. Dr. Mila discussed techniques in crafting clear, well-structured, and learner-responsive modules anchored on the 4A’s approach, emphasizing its role in enhancing engagement, comprehension, and application of learning. Participants later engaged in a hands-on workshop and open forum where they collaboratively developed and refined sample learning content based on the session inputs.

In the afternoon, another expert session was delivered by Ms. Ivy A. Ortiga, RL, MLIS, Director for Learning Resource and Library Services, who presented Mastering APA 7th Edition Referencing and Citation. The lecture strengthened participants’ skills in scholarly writing, proper citation, and research-based content development—key components of credible and ethical instructional materials. The program concluded with the presentation of workshop outputs, awarding of certificates, and the delivery of closing remarks by Dr. Fe T. Canoy, Director for Instruction.

The initiative advances SPAMAST’s goal of improving instructional quality while upholding the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Specifically, it supports SDG 4: Quality Education, by equipping educators with modern pedagogical approaches and research-aligned instructional tools. It also contributes to SDG 5: Gender Equality and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities through inclusive teaching practices suited for diverse learners. Additionally, the involvement of an external lecturer reflects SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, strengthening collaboration and knowledge exchange between institutions.

Through this program, SPAMAST reinforces its commitment to academic excellence and instructional innovation, ensuring that faculty are empowered to deliver responsive, effective, and globally aligned education.
