The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) conducted an earthquake drill at its Malita and Buhangin campuses on June 28,2024. The drill, held at 2:00 PM, aimed to enhance the safety preparedness of both employees and students in the event of a seismic event.
The drill simulated a realistic earthquake scenario, prompting participants to practice evacuation procedures, seek shelter, and follow emergency response protocols.
At both campuses, the drill began with a signal indicating the start of the earthquake simulation. Participants were instructed to “Drop, Cover, and Hold On,” a standard procedure recommended during seismic activity. Once the initial shaking subsided, evacuation orders were given, and everyone proceeded to designated safe zones.
SPAMAST’s commitment to safety extends beyond earthquake preparedness. The institution regularly conducts various emergency drills and training sessions to equip its community with the knowledge and skills needed to handle different types of emergencies.
The successful earthquake drill at SPAMAST Malita and Buhangin campuses underscores the institution’s dedication to fostering a safe and secure environment for its members, reinforcing the importance of preparedness and proactive measures in mitigating the impact of natural disasters.
