With a firm commitment to nurturing unity in diversity and advancing sustainable development, the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology commemorated the ASEAN 2025 Celebration on August 26, 2025 at the SPAMAST Founder’s Hall, Malita, Davao Occidental, carrying the resonant theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability.”
As part of the celebration, various activities were held on August 22, 2025, where students showcased their knowledge, creativity, and cultural appreciation through academic competitions. The highlight of the event was the awarding ceremony that recognized outstanding performances in different contests.
In the ASEAN Quiz Competition, the ITED team composed of Jhea H. Albarracin and Cherry Lyn B. Sulotan emerged as champions. The IBMG team of Eugine E. Manuta and Joshua D. Tanduyan secured first runner-up, while the IFMS team of Bryan J. Lagrosa II and Charity G. Bustamante placed second runner-up.
The Essay Writing Competition also brought recognition to talented writers. Shane Danielle P. Decolas (ICET) bagged the championship title, followed by Eva Irish Camallere (ITED) as first runner-up, and Julliana M. Opiasa (IBMG) as second runner-up.
Meanwhile, the Best ASEAN Attire Competition celebrated cultural appreciation and diversity. Dr. Mayjury Garcia won in the Female Category, while Prof. Elcir Doanne Escalante was hailed as the winner in the Male Category. Ms. Zerlychen Anne Barrosa also won the best in ASEAN attire for student category. Faculty members, administrative staff, and students all graced the event wearing ASEAN-inspired attire and confidently showcased them during a festive ramp walk.
The ASEAN Celebration at SPAMAST not only highlighted academic excellence and cultural expression but also reinforced the importance of unity, inclusivity, and sustainability in the ASEAN community.
