The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) Program of the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) successfully conducted its first-ever Capstone Project Exhibit at the SPAMAST Yellow Building, highlighting innovative student solutions grounded in green and blue economy principles. The event was held on May 8,2025 at SPAMAST, Malita, Davao Occidental.
The event was organized by the Information Technology Department, led by Program Head Prof. Bailina Dalam and Extension Project Leader Dr. Arneda Jean Gonzales. It featured the capstone projects of fourth-year graduating students, showcasing technological solutions that address various community and environmental challenges.
In her opening message, Dr. Marlyn B. Llameg, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, expressed appreciation for the efforts of the IT faculty in organizing the first-ever capstone exhibit. She congratulated both faculty and students, commending their creativity and commitment. Dr. Llameg emphasized the importance of ensuring that the technologies developed go beyond academic requirements and evolve into practical innovations that benefit society.
The exhibit was attended by SPAMAST representatives, IT students, faculty members, potential end-users, and partner agencies. Students presented their projects through audiovisual presentations, software demos, and working prototypes. Their innovations covered a wide range of applications, including marine biodiversity conservation, disaster resilience for flood and fire scenarios, energy efficiency, tourism promotion, streamlined campus navigation, and administrative tools such as an advanced student attendance system for faculty.
This landmark event not only celebrated the students’ accomplishments but also fostered a culture of innovation and continuous learning within SPAMAST. It reflects the institution’s mission to equip future IT professionals with the skills and mindset to create impactful, adaptive technologies for a better tomorrow.
