Skills Training on Coconut Pulp Cookies Empowers Women in Barangay Bolila

In a significant community outreach event, the Institute of Teacher Education and Information Technology (ITEIT) organized a Skills Training on Food Processing, focusing on “Coconut Pulp Cookies,” for women in Barangay Bolila, Malita, Davao Occidental. This training, conducted by the Technology and Livelihood Education Department, was led by Prof. Elcir Doanne Escalante, alongside faculty members and BTLED students.

The initiative was part of the 124th Philippine Civil Service Commission (CSC) Anniversary celebration and was held in conjunction with Linggo ng Malasakit sa Kapwa. The extension activity aimed to equip local women with valuable skills in food processing, leveraging the abundant local resource—coconut pulp—to create delicious and marketable cookies.

The program included hands-on sessions where participants learned the intricacies of turning coconut pulp into high-quality cookies, thus fostering both practical skills and potential income opportunities. This event underscores ITEIT’s commitment to community development and support for local entrepreneurship, aligning with the spirit of public service and compassion celebrated during the CSC anniversary.

The successful training reflects the collaborative efforts between the ITEIT faculty, BTLED students, and the Extension Services Office, contributing to the empowerment and upliftment of the community in Barangay Bolila.
