RAISE conducts Taining-Workshop on Prior Art Search and IP Drafting and Application

The Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Phase 2 Project of SPAMAST held a two-day training workshop on Prior Art Search and IP Drafting and Application on September 11-12, 2025, at Casa de Solana, Malalag, Davao del Sur.
The event covered key topics on generating prior art searches and drafting claims from the respective technologies. Along with the expertise of the resource speaker, Engr. Filmann T. Simpao, from the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Division (KTTD) under the Research, Development, and Extension Office of the University of Southeastern Philippines, endowed participants with the essential knowledge and background pertaining to the nature of developing PAS Reports and the detailed ways pertaining to the application processes. The session presented strategies for identifying relevant prior art, analyzing patent databases, and understanding the legal frameworks surrounding IP rights.
Moreover, Engr. Simpao highlighted the importance of developing clear technology descriptions and backgrounds, enough to supplement IP applications. Participants engaged in hands-on exercises, allowing them to practice drafting patent claims and preparing effective IP applications. As such, the conducted activity instills practices that strengthen innovation protection and commercialization.
The organizing team, RAISE Phase 2 members, continues to aspire to provide frameworks and ideas in the shadow of learning and development initiatives in order to realize innovation and progress in the institution.
