RAISE conducts Re-echo Seminar on Spinoff Policy

The RAISE Project Team, headed by its project leader, Dr. Grace D. Buencillo, conducted a Re-echo Seminar on Spinoff Policy on September 23, 2025, at SPAMAST Library AVR. This activity aligns with the project’s target accomplishment of initiating a re-echo on Spinoff Policy having researchers as participants.
A spinoff policy plays a vital role in guiding institutions on how to effectively manage and utilize their intellectual property. It establishes clear guidelines on ownership, licensing, and revenue-sharing, which help avoid conflicts between inventors and the institution. By providing structure, it ensures that innovations are protected under proper intellectual property rights, safeguarding both academic integrity and commercial potential. In addition, SPAMAST, under the RAISE Project, crafted a spinoff policy that will serve as a bridge between academic research and industry application, facilitating the smooth commercialization of products. The conduct of a re-echo seminar about this topic will encourage the creation of startups or partnerships that can bring research outputs into the marketplace.
In line with this re-echo seminar, faculty researchers offered commitment in absorbing key concepts of such policy. The speaker, Dr. Buencillo, shared a glimpse of the crafted spinoff policy of the institution, which is also subject to Board of Trustees approval. Once this policy is strengthened and implemented, a concrete guideline for protecting intellectual properties and entrepreneurial initiatives is expected to be established.
Overall, the success of this event underscores the dedication of SPAMAST in delivering knowledge-driven developments, enabling efficient and progressive delivery of services. Through the lens of this activity, not only the participants but also the future entrepreneurial ventures will benefit.
