The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) conducted a pivotal meeting with the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) on May 30, 2025, at the SPAMAST Conference Room, 3rd Floor, Administrative Building, Malita Campus.
The event was organized and facilitated by the Extension Services Office of SPAMAST, led by Prof. Kher Dave H. Doños.
The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration between the PNVSCA and SPAMAST, focusing on promoting volunteerism among students and integrating it into institutional programs and research initiatives.
Prof. Kher Dave H. Doños opened the event with a warm welcome, emphasizing the importance of volunteerism as a transformative tool in community engagement and academic development.
SPAMAST President, Dr. Lynette A. Bontia, delivered an inspiring message, expressing her full support for the agency’s advocacy and highlighting SPAMAST’s commitment to cultivating a culture of volunteerism across its campuses.
A comprehensive orientation on Advocacy in Promoting Volunteerism Management was presented by Mr. Raymart Maruquez of PNVSCA, who provided insights on national volunteerism frameworks and the agency’s ongoing efforts to encourage civic engagement.
Following this, PNVSCA Executive Director Mr. Donald James D. Gawe presented a proposal aimed at establishing stronger institutional linkages and identifying SPAMAST as a strategic partner in volunteerism initiatives and promotion.
An open forum was held to discuss collaborative plans, including student involvement, integration of volunteerism into academic and research programs, internationalization prospects, and the designation of a possible office to manage volunteerism-related activities within SPAMAST.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Ariel E. San Jose, SPAMAST Director for Internationalization and External Linkages, who expressed optimism about the future of the partnership and the impact of volunteerism in shaping globally competitive and socially responsible graduates.
This meeting marks a significant step forward in SPAMAST’s continuing efforts to expand its external partnerships and promote civic responsibility among its stakeholders.
