February 6, 2024, marks a fresh beginning for the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) with the investiture of its 6th President, Dr. Lynette Alcalen-Bontia. This symbolic ceremony, graced by esteemed guests, marks the dawn of a transformative era for the institution.
An investiture rites officiated by Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo, Regional Director of the Commission on Higher Education, Region XI on behalf of Chairman Prospero De Vera, marked the official bestowing of the 6th SPAMAST president and served as the highlight of the event.
In response to the commitment from the stakeholders to continuously support SPAMAST under Dr. Bontia’s leadership, support poured in from a variety of sectors. In addition to emphasizing their commitment to SPAMAST’s progress, representatives of the student body, administrative personnel and faculty echoed their unwavering support.
The event was attended by the former SPAMAST presidents: Dr. Francisco Ladaga, Dr. Alexander Campaner, Dr. Irvin C. Generalao, and Dr. Ruth S. Lucero. In addition to dignitaries from other State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), and members of the SPAMAST Board of Trustees, the President and colleagues from the Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), retired SPAMAST personnel, top management, employees, students, representatives from different sectors, including the local government and stakeholders, and the honoree’s family attended the event held at ABC Gymnasium, Malita, Davao Occidental.
