The absence of the camp for over a decade was due to unforeseen circumstances, added to by the global pandemic that disrupted gatherings worldwide. However, the blaze of service never dwindled. With the unwavering efforts of Davao Occidental and Davao del Sur Youth for Christ leaders, the once-lost tradition was rekindled—recapturing YFC’s presence in SPAMAST and, most importantly, bringing young hearts back to the ways of Christ.
The three-day youth camp was a resounding success, igniting the “4Fs” of Youth for Christ: Fun, Freedom, Friendship, and Faith. Laughter rang out during games, bonds were formed in fellowship, and quiet moments of prayer deepened each participant’s connection to God.
In her closing message, Madam Edel Quinn Casis, the Organization Adviser of CFC-Youth For Christ Campus Based Malita, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the camp’s revival while also voicing concern over the ongoing spiritual challenges faced by the campus youths. She lamented that some students have yet to encounter God in their lives; a huge gap that, she noted, could lead to deeper personal and community struggles. Her words served as both a reminder and a call to action: to continue bringing the light of Christ to every young soul.
With the successful holding of this camp, the first steps have been taken toward a renewed era of faith in SPAMAST. The fire has been lit once again, and with God’s grace, it will keep burning brighter in the hearts of the youth.
