Malita, Davao Occidental — June 20, 2025 — In a strategic effort to enhance workforce preparedness and industry relevance, the Southern Philippines Agribusiness and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), in collaboration with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Malita, held a landmark Partnership Meeting on the Supervised Industry Learning (SIL) program for Bookkeeping NC III trainees. The gathering brought together key stakeholders from various cooperatives, private institutions, and community associations, aiming to secure solid industry engagements that will immerse trainees in actual bookkeeping practices aligned with TESDA standards.
The program opened with invigorating words from Dr. Ariel E. San Jose, Director for Internationalization and External Linkages, followed by compelling messages from PESO Manager Stelito M. Jumaran and TESDA Administrative Officer IV Alma Joy Santillan. Director for Instruction Fe T. Canoy laid out the purpose of SIL, emphasizing its critical role as a TESDA-mandated requirement that bridges theoretical knowledge with hands-on application. Bookkeeping NC III trainees are expected to acquire core competencies such as journalizing transactions, posting entries, preparing trial balances and financial reports, and reviewing internal control systems—all under the close guidance of qualified industry supervisors.
The meeting served not only as an orientation but as a commitment-building platform, where roles and responsibilities between SPAMAST and its industry partners were clearly defined. Through open dialogue and shared expectations, the partnership seeks to formalize these engagements via Memoranda of Agreement (MOA), ensuring that each trainee receives structured, competency-based learning in a real-world environment. The consultation underscored a unified goal: to strengthen academe-industry collaboration and empower local learners to meet the evolving demands of the accounting and finance sectors with confidence and competence.
